American Fidelity Ranked No. 18 on IDG’s Computerworld’s Annual List of Best Places to Work in IT
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – American Fidelity Assurance Company, based in Oklahoma City, once again made Computerworld’s list of Best Places to Work in IT. Coming in at No. 18 among mid-sized companies, this is AFA’s 12th consecutive appearance on the list.
“Our 200 IT Colleagues work diligently to make life easier for our Customers and Colleagues. The focus is on helping others and making AFA successful, so we strive to reward them by creating an environment where they love coming to work each day,” said Kim Fisher, chief information officer. “Making this list for 12 straight years also helps us recruit top talent, which is crucial as we continuously add software developers, database developers, technical infrastructure analysts and other IT positions to our team to better serve our Customers.”
In the past year AFA has implemented an all-wireless environment at their future headquarters, launched a new online enrollment platform for Customers and began moving away from legacy systems. The Company’s collaborative environment helps Colleagues solve problems and create solutions for Customers and Colleagues. To help attract and retain IT talent, the Company launched several initiatives this past year, including new hire lunches with the CIO, an Innovation Challenge, a mentoring program and a new research and development team with rotating members.
The Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT) list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by IDG’s Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
