OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - American Fidelity Assurance Company announced today that IDG's Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," has selected it as the No. 25 workplace for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 15th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 30 issue and online at Computerworld.com. American Fidelity Assurance Company is the only company in Oklahoma to make list. It ranked higher than corporate heavyweights like AFLAC, Inc., Northwestern Mutual Financial Group, USAA and Allstate Insurance. It is the sixth year for American Fidelity to make the Computerworld list, where it was ranked No. 1 in 2004. It is the second high-profile workplace honor American Fidelity has received this year. The company was named in January to Fortune magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" for the fifth straight year. Computerworld praised American Fidelity's annual bonus that is available to all Colleagues in the company and is based on the company's financial performance. In addition, the magazine cited other benefits such as the on-site health clinic, fitness center and restaurant. "Being among the Best Places to Work in IT means crafting a blend of employee advantages that includes the potential for flexible hours, competitive pay, excellent benefits, a supportive leadership environment, opportunities for ongoing training and advancement, and ultimately, the feeling that you'd like to stay with the company a long, long time," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "American Fidelity truly believes that our Colleagues are our No. 1 asset, so we strive to make our culture one of a great place to work," said John Schille, senior vice president for American Fidelity's Information Services Division. "It is one of this company's top initiatives to create an environment that makes American Fidelity the employer of choice in Oklahoma and our market place." Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 17,000 IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
