OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – American Fidelity Assurance Company announced today that IDG's Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," has selected it as the No. 11 workplace for information technology (IT) professionals. This honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 16th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 15 issue and online at Computerworld.com. American Fidelity Assurance Company is the only company in Oklahoma to make list. It ranked higher than corporate heavyweights like Prudential Financial, Inc., and AFLAC, Inc. It is the seventh year for American Fidelity to make the Computerworld list, where it was ranked No. 1 in 2004. The designation helps to solidify American Fidelity's position as an employer of choice, said Kim Fisher, American Fidelity Assurance Company's Chief Information Officer. "We're proud to have extended our streak on the Computerworld list of Best Places to Work in IT," Fisher said. "To climb 14 spots in the rankings is a testament to how much American Fidelity in general and specifically the Information Systems Division values our Colleagues and the contributions they make to the overall success of our Company." American Fidelity was ranked second among the list's small companies, No. 6 overall in retention and No. 8 in training. It is the second high-profile workplace honor American Fidelity has received this year. The company was named in January to Fortune magazine's list of the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" for the fifth straight year. Computerworld praised American Fidelity's annual bonus that is available to all Colleagues in the company and is based on the company's financial performance. In addition, the magazine cited other benefits such as the on-site health clinic, fitness center and restaurant. "To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough just to seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list sustain a dynamic work environment in which IT professionals keep their hands on the latest technologies and work on projects that are business critical. In the months and years ahead, IT is going to become a key accelerator of business growth." Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 27,000 IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
